General Michael Hayden

Former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency

General Michael Hayden is a retired four-star general who served as director of the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency when the course of world events was changing at a rapid rate. As head of the country’s premier intelligence agencies, he was on the front lines of global change, the war on terrorism, and the growing cyber challenge.

In addition to leading CIA and NSA, General Hayden was the country’s first principal deputy director of national intelligence and the highest-ranking military intelligence officer in the country. In all of these jobs, he worked to put a human face on American intelligence. His recent memoir, Playing to the Edge: American Intelligence in the Age of Terror, has been a New York Times best-seller and was selected as one of the 100 most notable books of 2016.

Kevin Poulsen

Kevin Poulsen is an award-winning journalist and a contributing editor at Wired magazine. A one-time hacker, Poulsen was prosecuted in 1991 for using his illicit access to telephone company systems to cheat at radio station phone-in contests. He began writing in 1997, and served as editor of SecurityFocus before joining Wired full-time in 2005, where he founded the Threat Level blog.

In 2006 Poulsen conducted a computer-assisted investigation into the presence of sex offenders on social networking sites, which spawned federal legislation. In 2010, Poulsen broke the news that the government had secretly arrested Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning for leaking hundreds of thousands of documents to WikiLeaks.

Eric began his career in the FBI as a “Ghost” an undercover field operative tasked to surveil and monitor foreign, national, and domestic terrorists and spies. During the Hanssen investigation, Eric worked directly undercover with the spy within the FBI’s Information Assurance Division created to protect all classified FBI intelligence.
